2022 Global Pet Expo

2022 Global Pet Expo | Just got back from the 2022 edition of the Global Pet Expo in Orlando Florida.

This is the first show since the beginning of the pandemic. The show was held in a different (smaller) space than previous years, due the absence of Chinese exhibitors. Attendees were having noticeable difficulty navigating the unfamiliar hall!

There seemed to be a significantly smaller turnout vs pre-pandemic levels. The attendees that DID show up were very enthusiastic nonetheless.

EVERY visitor to the Happy Howie’s booth had the same question: “When will the Meat Rolls be returning???”

I was happy to inform them that the meat rolls were indeed returning in the coming months! They were all relieved to hear that news and were willing to patiently wait for the “Return of the Rolls”!!

I saw many familiar faces from years past and met some new friends as well. Woof Gang Bakery was having a national meeting at the show with over 150 locations attending! MANY of these stores visited our booth during the show to learn about our products.

It was good to see things returning to normal and a good time was had by all!

Looking forward to next years show!

SuperZoo 2017 Recap

Another SuperZoo is in the books!
As one of the two largest industry trade shows (the other being the Global Pet Expo) this was a very important show for Happy Howie’s.

Not only did we get to speak to the most influential distributors and retailers in the industry, we got to meet in the confines of our brand new trade show booth! Our new show booth occupies 20 linear feet and screams “Come look at the Happy Howie’s Deli!” We had random attendees and exhibitors stopping by just to tell us how much they liked the new look!

Image is everything at shows like this. Our new look speaks volumes to our existing customers and our potential future business partners.

People were using the windowed deli display case in the center of the booth as their preferred meeting place. They got to see a selection of our many product forms arranged inside the case as they discussed our products and merchandising. It couldn’t have worked out better.

Dogs are allowed at this show, so we had the opportunity to see them react to our products. Some of the owners had to literally drag their dogs away from the booth after sampling our treats! Some of them actually circled back to have another snack! It’s funny to see the look on the owner’s face when the dog snaps up a sample of our Premium Meat Roll seconds after they say “My dog doesn’t eat treats, or much of anything else.”

It was great to meet and greet our growing family of dealers and distributors from around the country!

We are looking forward to doing this show again next year!

Global Pet Expo 2017

Global Pet Expo is the biggest Pet Industry gathering of the year—Pet Retailers, Distributors and Manufacturers from all over the world turn out in large numbers for this annual event. The 2017 show, March 22–24th at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, was no exception!

I’m happy to report that the Global Pet Expo was a huge success for Happy Howie’s! We prominently featured our merchandising tools at this year’s show, including the Happy Howie’s Doggy Deli Floor Display, and our new Happy Howie’s Deli Snack Station. Both of these displays offer our retailers an easy and efficient way to offer our products as impulse sales, and were met with enthusiastic approval by the trade! We were excited to write an unusually large number of orders at Global this year (mostly display assortments).

Many of our existing customers stopped by to see us, as well as numerous new faces. We even had the opportunity to sample our treats to the many canines in attendance!

I have been attending this event for many, many years. This was by far the busiest I have ever seen this show!

The Pet industry is alive and well!

Happy Howie’s at SuperZoo 2016

We are back from another successful SuperZoo show!

This show continues to grow—the floor layout, while easier to navigate than previous years, was massive! With over 1,200 exhibitors, SuperZoo is the largest gathering of pet retail and service professional in North America! If it is a pet product, chances are you could find it at this show. As with previous shows, Happy Howie’s was thrilled to be a part of it.

This was our first SuperZoo with a 20-foot Happy Howie’s booth, and we needed every inch of it! Many of the attendees—some from all over the world—brought their dogs, so sampling was very frequent. Dogs were hitting the brakes hard in front of our Doggy Deli Displays and wouldn’t leave until they got a tasty treat.

Happy Howie’s is excited to have launched our new Bulk Bags for our Doggy Deli Display! Shopping for our bulk treats is easier than ever before—customers can use our new bags to stock up on their favorite selection of our fresh deli treats. We also launched our new 2-pack 11” Woof Stix, and our 6” Woof Stix Baker’s Dozen Pouches! Our new product was a big hit and we look forward to see its success within our growing product line!

Happy Howie’s is already registered for a booth at next years show, July 25–27, 2017. We can’t wait and hope to see you there!

Phillip’s Pet Mid-Atlantic Open House

Phillip’s Pet Mid-Atlantic Open House 2016 was held July 11–12 at the Ocean Place Resort in Longbranch, NJ!

Phillip’s Pet Mid-Atlantic Open House always takes up all of the available conference space in this facility: Every meeting room, the 2 main ballrooms on the ground floor and the 2 ballrooms on the second floor. Happy Howie’s occupied the exact same booth space as the last show, on the second floor of the show.

Global Pet Expo 2016

Happy Howie’s may have been in the back of the Global Pet Expo, but we were buried and very busy with follow-up activities!

Located in the very back left corner of the hall, you’d think that we would have very low traffic—not so! Happy Howie’s booth was front and center, as it seemed like at least half of the attendees turned left upon entering the hall. Our aisle essentially started the show!

Global Pet Expo was very well attended, with a combination of distributors, buyers, and retailers of all sizes. We met with a mix of our existing customers and some interested future customers from all parts of the US, and even many foreign countries. Read more

Happy Howie’s at SuperZoo

sz-logoThis was the largest and busiest SuperZoo show to date. 300 booths were added since last year’s show. Some of those booth spaces went to new exhibitors and the rest allowed previous exhibitors to expand their booth spaces.
Attendee traffic was up dramatically from last year’s show. Pet shops and distributors from coast to coast were present in large numbers. The attendees were up-beat and anxious to hear about our products.

superZoo_smallInterest in Happy Howie’s products at SuperZoo was very high. Our commitment to fresh, deli- style, all-natural product offerings is at the heart of current consumer and dealer demand. It seemed like many other companies were trying to make a late jump on the “All Natural” bandwagon.

We had the opportunity to speak with several large national dog training organizations about our Premium Meat Rolls. They all seemed well aware of our product’s advantages over other roll products and couldn’t wait to drop their current products and start using ours!

Many attendees visited our booth accompanied by their dogs. Many of them came in claiming that they had visited a dozen other treat booths and their dog had rejected all the samples being offered. David would then slice up some Happy Howie’s Premium Turkey Roll, offer a piece to the finicky customer and watch as the dog gulped it down and begged for more!

A good time was had by all!

Happy Howie’s Visits Colorado

In late April, Happy Howie’s decided to take a trip to Colorado to visit independent retailers in two (Denver and Colorado Springs) of the 17 Best U.S. Cities for Dogs (as voted by Estately Blog; http://blog.estately.com/2013/05/17-best-u-s-cities-for-dogs/). After seeing 40 independent retailers in 4 days, we a few things to bark about.

It doesn’t get any better than beautiful spring weather, mountains in the background, All Natural Dog Treats, and of course, dogs! Dogs, dogs, and more dogs! The neighborhoods were lively with pet parents walking and playing with their best friends. From Denver all the way down to Colorado Springs, many dogs were enjoying the parks, dog-friendly coffee shops, and boutique pet supplies stores.

One of the many aspects of these cities that we were fascinated by is the ability to set trends in motion that carry over to the rest of the country.
One of the retailers, Wag n Wash natural food & bakery in Colorado Springs, was a one-stop-shop design to make a pet parent’s life easier and spoil dogs. The store, like several others, has dog wash and grooming stations with a selection of natural foods and treats to fit the need of the most demanding pet parent. But, what really set this store apart was the in-house bakery. Wag n Wash’s bakery was equipped with a bakery and a baker hand rolling and cutting cookies for dogs. Before you get a chance to take in the wide aisles and bright colors, your senses are drawn to the smell of freshly baked treats. There’s no doubt stores throughout the country will pick up on this!

This was just one store among many other retailers in Denver and Colorado that deserve praise for helping to put their cities on the list of the 17 Best U.S. cities for Dogs. After 4 days and 40 stores, our paws are super tired!

Southeast Pet Open House

Congratulations to Southeast Pet on celebrating their 40th anniversary!

At Happy Howie’s, we have grown to love Southeast Pet—specifically their people and what they stand for. During the past few years the pet industry has seen an incredible amount of consolidation among distributors of pet supplies. This has generated a lot of controversy, along with questions regarding the future of independent distributors in the pet industry. Despite this, Southeast Pet has held strong and prospered as one of the last independent distributors in the country!

The same can be said about their open house. Last week hundreds of retailers gathered at the Cobb Galleria showplace in Atlanta, Georgia, to enjoy good food, music, and products from dozens of exhibitors at the Southeast Pet Open House. These exhibitors experienced record-setting traffic from booth to booth.

As always, our favorite part is when the retailers that carry our treats, stop by and tell us how well the treats sell in their stores. These loyal retailers help to educate others that stop by our booth, whom don’t carry Happy Howie’s, by emphasizing the overall success of our All Natural Treats in their stores.

Thank you Southeast Pet for hosting the successful event! Happy Howie’s is happy to have been an exhibitor, and proud to have been among the dozens of successful manufacturers attending distributors representing the pet industry.

Up next—the Middle West Open House in Chicago and the Frontier Open House at the Suburban Showcase in Novi. We hope to see you there!
