Believe it or not, Memorial Day is finally upon us! As we anticipate a 3-day weekend, what better way to spend it than by going on a (much-deserved) vacation with your favorite furry friend.
Thanks to this guide by Visualistan, we have a list of things that may be helpful to remember before you take your pup on vacation this holiday weekend.
1. Visit With The Vet
Not only is it important to make sure that your dog is healthy enough for travel, but you’ll also need to get them up to date on their vaccines as well. Keep in mind that depending on where you’re traveling to, the rules and regulations regarding pet health and safety will differ. Ask your veterinarian what else you might need before your big trip.
While you’re at the vet, you should consider getting your dog microchipped. This will add to your peace of mind and will make your weekend together that much more fun!
3. Planes, Trains or Automobiles?
Which mode of transportation is your pet most comfortable with? If you have to travel by airplane, research which carriers are the best at transporting pets. If you’re traveling by car, make plenty of pit-stops along the way.
4. What to Bring
Along with all of the relevant documents required for your pet to travel, don’t forget to pack the necessities; Travel crate, medications, lead and harness and, of course, Happy Howie’s! Treating your pup’s good behavior while traveling will soothe any anxieties he might have and remind him of all of the comforts of home.
5. Have Fun!
Make the most of your adventure together! Take plenty of pictures, see plenty of places and make memories. Be safe and have fun!
